Stanzin Targais born in the beautiful village of Ruk Ruk situated in the most forbidden valley of zanskar in midst of Himalaya to a humble farmer family, and spent his childhood in the same village attending a public school along with helping the parents. The mountains and the valley became one of the most intimate company of mine ever since my childhood. It was one of the most fortunate period of my life that I got the golden opportunity to attend a centralized school in Leh town and to know about the world and the different people that it inhabit.
After completing schooling an another golden opportunity to attend college in the most advanced city of Chandigarh in India showered upon me which really open my eyes to the outside world. During this period due to the poor financial background of my parents I was forced to earn myself for the college fee and other study expenses. For this for the first time I worked in a travel company in leh as a helper to the trekkers as such for the first time I came in contact with western people and doing such I completed my graduation. Due to the large problems of unemployment and the financial constraint I continued to work as a guide to many travel company of both national and international.
During these periods I gained tremendous and in-depth experience in the field of travelling especially in trekking in the Himalayas and since then trekking in the Himalaya became my specialized subject and experience. During the course of time it was felt that most of the foreign trekkers in the Himalayas are from france I felt the need to learn French and today I am fluent in French besides knowing ladakhi, Tibetan, Hindi, Urdu and English which further add a wing to the field of travelling. During the last more than 15 years I have done more than thousands trek across the Himalaya and some of them were very exciting, some adventurous, some tiring, and some peaceful. Gaining further knowledge and experience I am able to open my own travel company under the title Ethnic Himalaya ECO TREK. Providing excellent service to the client is my motto and I believe in the satisfaction of client and thereby serving more and more client. Choosing me and my company will be the most memorable vacation of yours
Ladakh a word which means "land of high passes", is a region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir of Northern India sandwiched between the Karakoram mountain range to the north and the Himalayas to the south. The Indian portion of Ladakh is composed of the Leh and Kargil districts. The Leh district is the largest district of India, covering more than half the area of Jammu and Kashmir, of which it is the eastern part. Adventure tourism in Ladakh started in the 19th century. By the turn of the 20th century, it was not uncommon for British officials to undertake the 14 stage trek from Srinagar to Leh as part of their annual leave. Agencies were set up in Srinagar and Shimla to specialise sport related activities — hunting, fishing and trekking. A large retinue of porters would carry huge canvas tents and collapsible string beds. Today, about 60,000 tourists visit Ladakh every year. Bounded by two mighty mountain ranges, it is a popular place for adventure tourism. The well-preserved Tibetan-Buddhist culture makes it even more attractive.
